What makes you different from other wedding photographers?
Simply stated our aim is Wedding Photography as Fine Art. Both trained artists, we emphasize the quality of each element of the image making process. From the time each image is captured to each finely crafted finished print, we put love into our work.
How Many photographers will attend my event?
Each event is covered by two photographers.
Will I meet my photographer before my wedding?
Your photographers, Raya Lopez and Deborah Wallin will personally assist you before, during and after your wedding.
What is your primary style?
Wedding photography styles fall into two categories: portraiture and documentary. Documentary photography is the unposed record of your wedding day, from the anticipation of the preparation to the sweet farewell. These images are unposed and natural, telling the story of your day without interference of the photographer. Throughout the course of the day, we will also take portraits of the couple, their family and friends. Our portrait style tends to be relaxed and natural, emphasizing the relationships between those being photographed.
What is Our Philosophy?
When you choose a wedding photographer, you are choosing someone who, in a sense will be a part of your life forever. We are the memory keepers. Our aim is to capture the emotions and fleeting but precious expressions of your wedding day. Throughout your married life, you will have the images of your wedding day, told through your photographers lens. It is our passion and privilege to capture the emotions of you wedding day--the love, the laughter, the tears of joy-- in photographs with a photojournalistic style of shooting. We document the special moments as they unfold in timeless black and white and sumptuous color photographs.
How do we create wedding photography as art?
A photographer paints with light, whether in classic black and white or rich color. A knowledge of light is critical to beautiful photographs. Both trained artists, we have an intuitive sense of composition and style. We use photo/art techniques with specialty films. We have mastered infra-red photography and cross-processed photography as well as photography with traditional professional films. We bring with us our studio equipment to ensure beautiful light and beautiful photographs in all situations.
How do you achieve the images that I want?
We want to connect with you about your vision for your wedding images, and encourage you to be as involved as possible in their creation. We urge couples to share their vision about their wedding images by tearing out magazine images that you like and sending us examples of what inspires you. Half of art is inspiration, and we like our clients to be as involved as possible in creating work that inspirers them.
What type of cameras do you use?
We use 35MM cameras to shoot weddings. These cameras provide versatility and speed to capture your unique memories. 35mm lends itself to work in differing lighting conditions and fast changing situations. The advantages in optics, focusing, film handling, and exposure in our equipment deliver the most spontaneous tools for what we do.
Is an album included in the package I chose?
A credit toward albums is included in all wedding photography packages. We offer a breathtaking variety of wedding albums from around the world, each custom designed. Since each bride has a different vision of her perfect wedding album, the credit allows individuals the opportunity to create the perfect album for them and their wedding. Some packages include parent albums as well.
How soon after the wedding can I see my wedding photographs?
After your wedding, your images are immediately sent to a professional lab to be processed, printed and put online at Pictage.com. We will then schedule a meeting with you as soon as your prints are ready for pickup (about 2-3 weeks).
What type of film do you use?
We use professional grade 35MM film. We have also mastered techniques using specialty art films such as infra-red photography and cross-processed photography as well as photography with traditional professional films.
What about Engagement Photography?
An engagement photography session is included in all wedding photography packages. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know us so everyone is comfortable on the wedding day. (Not to mention the benefits of precious portraits of the couple in love.)
When will I receive my negatives?
Negatives are included in all wedding photography packages. You will receive your negatives after your album is created and online ordering is complete. We suggest you store them in a safety deposit box or somewhere extremely safe. Should something happen to your photo album, you will still have your negatives.
When are travel fees charged?
We basically need travel expenses covered for wedding photography outside of the Orange County and LA area. Weddings for which we need several hours to travel to the location will require a hotel room for the night of the wedding. In cases requiring air travel, 2 round-trip airline tickets will be needed as well as hotel accommodations. We will need any taxi or transportation expenses covered as well.
